
Andy Conlan is a photographer, author and award winning feature film director.
He studied English Literature Degree at Auckland University, where he was admitted to their highly contested Creative Writing Program under Albert Wendt.
Concurrently, he was a co host and producer on the nationwide radio show Love Songs 'til Midnight, with broadcasting veteran Pete Sinclair.
His illustrations and photographs have been published by The New Zealand Herald, New Zealand Musician, Vice, Pulp, No. Magazine, Pilot, Frankie, Animal's Voice, Pro Design, OnFilm, Play Monkey and The Listener amongst others.
He has created advertising imagery for a wide variety of clients, topics and events, from Chubby Checker to Greenpeace, Anchor products to Stephen King.
Conlan has written and illustrated four books, The Waiting Pig, Mr. Gloomingdale's Downpour, Mr. Gloomingdale's Christmas and Nina's Phantom Friend.
His debut feature film, The Last Magic Show, won the Jury Prize at the Dances with Films Festival, Los Angeles. Filmthreat magazine wrote of the film "Well acted, darkly lit, and gorgeously shot, the dark undertones of the story seem to ooze off the screen".
